Silver Hawks families,
This afternoon, our board of directors made the decision to suspend all organized St. Charles Silver Hawks activities in response to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. This suspension goes into effect immediately and includes all team and club organized activities, but not limited to, team indoor hitting and fielding practices, team outdoor practices and all games: friendlies, scrimmage and tournament.
We, as a board, made this decision in response to the recent closure announcements made by D303, St. Charles Park District and Governor Pritzker’s directive to close all Illinois public and private schools, until April 6th. We have also been in contact with other travel sports organizations in the area, most of which are taking the same precautions. It is our goal to resume all organized club and team activities on April 6th, which coincides with the end of D303’s spring break.
Please understand, we as a board, take very seriously our responsibility for putting the health and safety of our players, coaches, families and community first. These are uncertain times and we are all trying to navigate the best we know how. We are doing our best to continuously monitor the seemingly endless updates pertaining to COVID-19 but we ask for your patience, as we are all in unchartered territory here. Please follow the directives and guidelines outlined by the CDC, WHO and the Illinois Dept. of Health in order to keep your family safe.
In the meantime, we as an organization, cannot limit individual practices or small group practices. Please utilize common sense if you decide to continue any private instruction or trainings, whether at The Dugout or elsewhere. Please follow best practices for slowing the spread of COVID-19 by staying home at the first sign of symptoms of flu or respiratory illness, follow social distancing protocols and avoid large gatherings. Every one of us plays a critical role in maintaining the overall health of our entire community. Please be safe and we hope to see everyone very soon under much better circumstances.
